‘One of the quickest’… Pundit says Arsenal have a player on their books who’s almost as fast as Virgil van Dijk

Kieran Tierney remains an Arsenal player even though he’s out on loan at Real Sociedad at the moment.

The Scot remains on the Gunners’ books, and while he’s out of favour right now, the full-back remains a very talented player.

Indeed, while Mikel Arteta doesn’t have much use for Tierney right now, once upon a time, he was seen as one of Arsenal’s best and most important players.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Scott Brown has been discussing Tierney’s ability, honing in on the player’s speed in particular.

Brown, of course, played with Tierney at Celtic, and he says he’s one of the quickest footballers he’s ever shared a pitch with.

Tierney one of the fastest

Brown shared his verdict on the full-back.

“Kieran as well, Kieran is probably one of the quickest players I’ve ever played with. I’ve played with a lot of quick players, but his body, his strength, his low centre-of-gravity. He’s a bit like McGinn in that way. He’s a an exceptional one vs one defender as well, and that’s probably how he got injured putting his body on the line,” Brown said.

High praise

This is high praise from someone like Brown.

The midfielder played with some truly rapid players during his career from Virgil van Dijk all the way to James Forrest, the Scot has played with some real speedy footballers.

Tierney has been blighted by injuries, but he’s still physically brilliant with his incredible combination of pace and stamina.

The defender may not have a part to play at Arsenal anymore, but we mustn’t forget just how talented a footballer he is, and he could well still have a solid Premier League career ahead of him.

Let’s hope that Tierney can rediscover his best form and fulfil the potential he showed at Celtic all those years ago.
