‘One of the positives’, ‘superb’: Some West Brom fans hail £3m man’s display at West Ham
A number of West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to Twitter to praise Romaine Sawyers’ performance on Tuesday night.
The Baggies were in Premier League action away at West Ham, hoping to make it two wins in a row after their superb victory at rivals Wolves.
However, Sam Allardyce’s charges fell behind in first-half injury time as Jarrod Bowen chested Vladimir Coufal’s cross into the net.

West Brom were level in the 51st minute through Matheus Pereira, who rifled a powerful effort low inside the far post to beat Lukasz Fabianski.
Sadly, the visitors’ hopes of moving within two points of escaping the bottom three was shortlived as Michail Antonio fired home on the turn from Andriy Yarmolenko’s header.
Sawyers was one of West Brom’s more disappointing performers against Wolves but put in a better display against the Hammers.
His passing, particularly through the lines, was generally of a better quality and he broke up West Ham counters on numerous occasions.
And even though the £3million man did fade away somewhat in the second half, quite a few Baggies supporters were nonetheless pleased with how he did:
Sawyers been superb tonight imo..#wba

Sawyers isn’t the answer when we get new bodies in but he’s actually played ok today after his shocker against Wolves. Decent game #wba

Antonio killed us. Goal on the stroke of half time left too big an uphill task against a good side. Improving under Allardyce…. he gets lots of stick so I’ll say it, thought Sawyers played well.
Let’s get some faces in #wba

Much, much better from #wba, much, much better from Romaine Sawyers. Disappointing result but not embarrassing which signals progress in my book. Fulham, Sheffield United, Burnley, Brighton and Newcastle in next 8 fixtures. Down, but not out. pic.twitter.com/t5Ujx1jE4K

Mateus periera has suddenly found form. He had a great game today. Even sawyers was better than he had been. Lacking a defensively solid left back tonight #WBA

U know what mate. When I stopped focusing on him I saw a lot better from sawyers and I didn’t see him make 1 mistake in that second half tbf
