Once Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to leave Liverpool, it was always going to be a really tough challenge to find the right successor.
Klopp won pretty much every trophy on offer during his almost nine-year reign at Anfield and cemented himself as one of the greatest managers in the club’s illustrious history.
After a carefully considered recruitment process led by Richard Hughes, Liverpool decided to appoint Feyenoord boss Arne Slot.
Now, it has just come to light why they opted for the Dutchman.
- EXCLUSIVE: Arne Slot is already a huge fan of one Liverpool player and wants him to be offered a new contract

Arne Slot’s track record of improving players was key
Liverpool appointed Arne Slot as Klopp’s successor in May and one of the main factors in that decision was his track record of improving players, according to the Daily Mail.
The club’s data team conducted a thorough audit of Slot and noted that he improved virtually every player in the squad.
The attackers’ returns in front of goal increased under the 45-year-old’s stewardship so Reds chiefs evidently felt he could do the same with the current crop at Anfield.
And, after just three games of the season, that is already proving to be the case, particularly for Luis Diaz.
Arne Slot has massively improved Luis Diaz
Slot identified Diaz as a player with huge potential and has coached him one-on-one to improve his off-the-ball movement.
That was in practice at Old Trafford on the weekend as he found space in the box two occasions before tucking home.
The Columbia international has netted three times in as many outings and looks ten times the player he was last term.
Slot’s certainly making a big impression already.
