Queens Park Rangers director and Tottenham Hotspur legend Les Ferdinand has confirmed that Crystal Palace made an approach in January for reported Spurs target Eberechi Eze, who is “one of the best” players he has seen in terms of footballing abilities.
The QPR youngster has developed into an outstanding player over the past few years and this season has claimed an impressive 12 goals and eight assists in 37 Championship games.
Tottenham are said to have been tracking Eze for some time and are increasingly interested in making a move, with Spurs scout Brian Carey present to see Eze star in QPR’s 3-1 win over Preston, according to The Sun.

Palace have also been linked in the past and, in conversation with the Beautiful Game podcast, Ferdinand confirmed that the Eagles have previously approached the west London side about the attacker.
“Palace made an enquiry but we never got to any fee or any negotiations in terms of what it was going to take,” said Ferdinand. “They made an enquiry about him and that was it.
“I think if you look at his footballing abilities, I could put him down as one of the best I’ve seen in terms of what I’ve played with and been fortunate to play with during my career.
“When I see some of the things he does on the football, and how comfortable he is on the football, I put him up there with one of the best I’ve seen.
“Whether he fulfils his potential to be one of the best I have worked with, time will tell. But certainly in terms of his ability on the ball, he’s one of the best I’ve seen.”
QPR are reportedly starting bids for Eze at £20million, according to The Sun.
TBR View:
Eze has clearly shown that he is a cut above with his exhilarating displays for QPR and impressive goal and assist tally, while Ferdinand confirming there has been Premier League interest in him confirms just how good he is – and how much better he can still get.

Even more exciting for Spurs is how Ferdinand, a player who played in the Premier League for many years and was part of England’s Euro 96 and 1998 World Cup squads, and will have seen countless top talents, reckons Eze is “one of the best” he’s seen in terms of footballing abilities.
“He goes past players easier than Raheem Sterling did,” former QPR assistant manager Marc Bircham told Sky Sports last year. “Sterling would beat players with pace or do a trick or a chop – it’s all dynamic movements, but Ebere Eze just glides past players.”
With so much praise from those who have worked with him to go with his obvious credentials on the pitch, Spurs should pull out all the stops to recruit him in the summer.
