West Ham United made it three wins from three Europa Conference League matches on Thursday night.

David Moyes’ charges won 1-0 at Anderlecht, courtesy of Gianluca Scamacca’s 79th-minute strike.

Lucas Paqueta’s flick released his fellow substitute, who fired home from a tight angle for his fifth Hammers goal.

Concrete chances were few and far between both sides throughout the game.

In the 39th minute, Said Benrahma wasted the best chance of the first half after he blazed over from close range.

However, Anderlecht had a great opportunity to equalise late on, but Alphonse Areola pulled off a world-class save.

Fabio Silva connected perfectly with a cross and headed goalwards from point-blank range.

The Hammers stopper reacted quickly to get down and block the effort.

And Sky Sports journalist Richard Morgan was stunned by Areola’s save.

“That stop from Areola is not only a match-winning save, but also one of the best I’ve seen in a long time,” he said.

“Incredible reflexes from do not forget it, the Hammers No 2.”

Areola’s save proved crucial as West Ham held on to win by Scamacca’s solitary goal.

The 29-year-old was also alert earlier on as he beat away a shot from Yari Verscharen.

All in all a solid display from West Ham, with Areola once again proving he’s a superb deputy for Lukasz Fabianski.

The Hammers are now just four points away from guaranteeing qualification to the knockout phase of the Europa Conference League.
