Heung-Min Son has been back to his best for Tottenham this season.

The South Korean has been back amongst the goals this term, and after a dip in form last term, he’s back in the Golden Boot conversation this year.

Speaking on the Official Tottenham Hotspur Podcast, Brennan Johnson has been discussing his captain and he’s been full of praise for the attacker.

Indeed, Johnson has said that Son is not only a fantastic captain, he’s also hailed him as one of the very best players in the world, claiming that he’s the one always setting the standards at Tottenham.

Son is one of the best

Johnson shared his verdict on his teammate.

“I think he’s one of the best in the world, so I think he can see first if the standards are dropping, when we lost against West Ham he could feel the standards dropping and I think he got us through that period. When he talks everyone listens. Everyone knows he’s not a soft captain, when I don’t play him into the box he lets me know because nine times out of 10 he will score because he’s so good at finishing,” Johnson said.

Perfect captain

Son is exactly what Tottenham need as a captain right now.

Yes, he’s not incredibly vocal in the same way someone like Tony Adams or Roy Keane used to be, but he leads by example and works his socks off for the team.

As Johnson says, Son makes sure the standards stay high with his own hard work, and when he needs to let a player know he’s done something wrong, he’s not shy to tell them.

Son is a fantastic leader, and Tottenham are very lucky to have him as their skipper.

The £22m man is a gem of a player and a brilliant person too by the sounds of things.
