One of Manchester United’s only hard-working players to leave for £5.2m fee

Manchester United are reshaping their squad ahead of the summer transfer window closing on Monday, with plenty of movement at Old Trafford in recent months.

United signed Benjamin Sesko as their new star striker, with the centre forward joined by Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in the Red Devils’ attacking ranks.

The Old Trafford side have had an underwhelming start to their Premier League campaign, picking up just four points from their first three games.

However, Ruben Amorim’s United squad looks set to continue to change, with a big-money signing set to leave imminently.

Rasmus Hojlund set for Napoli loan

With the afore-mentioned attacking reinforcements, United have clearly deemed Rasmus Hojlund as surplus to requirements.

The Denmark international is on the verge of signing for Italian club Napoli on loan, Fabrizio Romano has stated on X, with the Serie A side set to pay a €6 million (£5.2m) loan fee.

Hojlund was not part of Amorim’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League game against Burnley, with his omission paving the way for the Scandinavian’s Old Trafford exit.

Goal-shy, but hard-working

While many United fans will not lose any sleep over Hojlund’s departure, allowing the 22-year-old to leave robs the Manchester club of one attribute they have largely been missing.

Hojlund may have only scored 14 Premier League goals in two seasons in England, but no-one could fault the amount of effort and hard work the Dane put in for his side.

United are undergoing something of an identity crisis, with too many players on big wages that are dining out on reputations forged elsewhere.

The club lack fight and determination, with only a few players in the current Red Devils squad fitting the bill in this regard.

Allowing Hojlund to leave may well be seen as the right decision in a footballing sense, but the United squad is losing a player that never lacked effort and whose hard work may well be missed.
