Reported Arsenal target Ivan Toney “will move” once the season his over as he’s “ready for that next level”, according to Troy Deeney.

According to a TEAMtalk report from March, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have asked to be kept informed of the 25-year-old striker’s situation.

However, Arsenal aren’t the only club said to be in the running – Leeds United and West Ham United also reportedly in pursuit.

Toney has been sensational for Brentford since his move from Peterborough United last year.

In 43 Championship appearances, the 25-year-old has registered 29 goals and 10 assists, helping the Bees cement a top six place.

With second-placed Watford seven points ahead of Brentford with two games to go, Toney and teammates will have to navigate the playoffs.

And even though Deeney reckons the Bees will join his Hornets side in the Premier League, he reckons Toney will be on the move once again.

“Right now, I will go for Brentford (to earn promotion) just because of Ivan Toney,” Deeney told talkSPORT. “29-30 goals. He hasn’t scored in a couple.

“But I know him personally and he has definitely tried to get Glenn Murray’s record of 32 goals, so I think in the playoffs, he will show that cut above.

“I think he is one of those players, and Brentford fans won’t be happy, but once the season is over then he will move on.

“Whether they get to the Premier League, or not. He is ready for that next level.”

Brentford got themselves an absolute bargain in Toney for an initial £5million plus another £5million in potential add-ons.

TEAMtalk claims the Bees were looking at around £30million for him to change clubs, but that would surely change if they got promoted.

We’d be talking about a striker with plenty of years ahead of him who’s been nothing short of sensational in the Championship, playing for a Premier League club, and contracted until 2025.

He’d be a huge asset, so it remains to be seen whether he would move on – if he chose to, then he would certainly not come cheap.
