Former Liverpool striker Danny Ings helped Southampton see off Everton yesterday as the Saints ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.
It was a first loss of the season for Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees, who looked off the pace from the get-go and had Lucas Digne sent-off later on in the game for a nasty looking, if not accidental, tackle.
Goals from Che Adams and James Ward-Prowse did the damage for Ralph Hassenhuttl’s men, who climbed up the table and looked back to their best form from periods of last season.

But it was Danny Ings who was catching the eye over on Merseyside. The England striker never quite got going for the Reds but set up both goals yesterday to down Everton.
Liverpool fans, then, loved it on Twitter, with a number of them passing on their praise and thanks to Ings for helping the Saints see off the Reds’ bitter rivals.
