Tottenham Hotspur want another new central defender this summer but will find it difficult to get the deal over the line.
Clement Lenglet looks all but done in terms of coming in from Barcelona on a loan deal for the season.
But it seems the Frenchman may not slot straight into Antonio Conte’s side as an immediate upgrade, and the Italian wants another superior signing too.
Journalist Sami Mobkel has told Last Word on Spurs on YouTube that it will be really tough for the club to do that despite their impressive window so far.

Tottenham want another new defender
“Trying to get centre-halves, particularly ones which can apart to the physicality is hard to come by,” he said.
“Whether Tottenham can get another one over the line, including Lenglet, I don’t know – I think it will be a tough ask.
“But it’s certainly one that’s on the club’s radar, for sure. Bremer has definitely got has legs.
“You get the impression Conte wants a central defender who can go straight into the team and strengthen his defence.
“Lenglet isn’t necessarily a guarantee of being better than what is already in the building.”

It seems that the impending loan signing of Lenglet is a way for Spurs to push their pursuit of a truly elite central defender another year down the road.
The Frenchman has quality on the ball but does not look to be the long term solution, which will be worked on behind the scenes.
As for doing it this summer, it looks really difficult and now Spurs have committed to spending big money on Richarlison, as well.
