Liverpool’s 21-year-old winger Sheyi Ojo headed out on loan yet again this year, signing a season-long deal with Stade de Reims in France.
Yet the England youth international has struggled for form in Ligue 1, registering no goals and or assists in his first five matches at Reims.
Ojo made short substitute cameos in his first two appearances against Montpellier and Nantes, before starting in consecutive matches versus Dijon and Paris Saint Germain. But he ended up losing his starting spot and came off the bench against Bordeaux at the weekend.

Crucially, however, Ojo’s time on the pitch has failed to improve Reims’ attacking play at all. The Liverpool loanee has played a total of 199 minutes over five matches in France, and his club has registered just a single goal when he has been on the pitch.
When the Reds sent the winger to Ligue 1, they expected Ojo to prove himself in one of Europe’s top leagues and make a strong case for a successful return to the club in the following seasons.
Yet Ojo’s ineffectual start to life in France spells bad news for his Liverpool future. Despite signing a contract extension this summer, it appears unlikely the attacker will break into the Reds’ first team on this form.
