'Omg', 'Slightly Less FC': Some Arsenal fans react after hearing who Arteta's reportedly willing to sell

Arsenal fans have given their thoughts on the report claiming Mikel Arteta is open to selling Bernd Leno.

The 29-year-old Germany international joined the Gunners in 2018 for a reported £22.5million.

Leno has made 117 competitive appearances for Arsenal, including 49 last season.

According to The Athletic, he’s one of at least five senior Arsenal players who some staff members think may be looking to leave this summer.

“Clubs are enquiring”

Earlier this month, Fabrizio Romano told The Arsenal Lounge on Friday that clubs have been asking about Leno.

“At the moment, there is nothing advanced from what I am told,” he said. “A lot of clubs are enquiring, nothing advanced.”

And on Saturday, The Mirror claimed that Arteta is on the lookout for a new first-choice goalkeeper.

Gunners scouts have apparently been compiling reports on potential targets as Arteta looks to shore up his team’s defences.

And if they can sign a new No. 1, Arteta is reportedly willing to sell Leno, added the report.

He will apparently be available for a similar price, or slightly less, if Arsenal can find a replacement and a buyer for their keeper.

Leno is contracted to the Gunners until the summer of 2023 on a reported £100,000-a-week deal.

Arsenal goalkeeping options

Arsenal could certainly do with strengthening their ranks in between the sticks.

Emiliano Martinez’s departure was a bad decision in hindsight while Runar Alex Runarsson has not impressed.

Mat Ryan did well on loan at Arsenal earlier this year and is apparently a permanent target for them.

Likewise, the Gunners are reportedly also eyeing Ajax’s Andre Onana.

But what have fans made of the Leno report? Here’s what some have said on Twitter:
