A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to praise Japhet Tanganga after he penned a new Spurs contract on Monday.
The 21-year-old defender enjoyed a breakthrough season last term, making his debut in the League Cup defeat to Colchester United before making his Premier League bow against Liverpool on 11 January.
Although Tottenham fell to a 1-0 defeat, Tanganga – part of a three-man defence along with Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez – put in a great performance, especially considering the baptism of fire in taking on the European and world champions.

The versatile youngster has made 11 senior appearances in all competitions in the season just gone, including six in the Premier League, and has made a name for himself with the Spurs fans, coaches and players.
Now, Tanganga has joined the likes of Eric Dier, Oliver Skipp and Maurizio Pochettino in committing his future to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the new campaign, penning a new five-year deal.
Following the announcement of his new contract at N17, the defender tweeted: “Great way to end a memorable season. Thank you for all the support and can’t wait to see what the future holds. All God’s work.”
With European football secured following a sixth-placed finish, the transfer window now open and pre-season coming up, plenty of eyes will be on next season, fans hoping for progress after a tricky campaign.
Speaking about Tanganga in February after a run of games in the first team for the youngster, Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho said he could see the defender featuring for the club “for many years” (Sky Sports).
With his contract now making sure of this, plenty of fans took to social media to rejoice in the news, as well as the prospect of Tanganga working with newly appointed coach Ledley King:
