Olly Casey suggested on Instagram that it was a dream come true to make his Leeds United first-team debut in their 2-0 victory away at Huddersfield Town.
Casey was named amongst a youthful bench for the visitors. Leeds were without Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips for the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium. And the teenager was one of four academy graduates named on the bench, while Barry Douglas was the only player over the age of 20.

And Casey was given the chance to make his senior bow with five minutes of normal time remaining. The youngster replaced Mateusz Klich as Leeds closed in on the three points.
Casey did not have too much to do. However, it appears that he has made an impression on the supporters.

He looked composed when he was on the ball and did what was needed with minimal fuss. It also must be noted that he did not have any problems sticking to his task. He seemed to take up good positions amongst the defence and midfield.
And following the win, Casey expressed his delight at getting the chance to play for Marcelo Bielsa’s side…
With games coming thick and fast for Leeds over the coming weeks, Casey may not have to wait too long for his next chance.
He appears to have proved to Bielsa that he can handle the step up to the first-team. It certainly says a lot that the Leeds boss felt that he was ready given some of the other youngsters available to him.
