Manchester United are closing in on a striker, with Benjamin Sesko looking the likelier option over Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
United have ramped up a Sesko pursuit in the past 24 hours, as TBR Football revealed, with the Slovenian set to choose between the Red Devils or Newcastle United seemingly before this weekend.
But serial Premier League goalscorer Ollie Watkins is also United-linked. The Villa forward is certainly not a bad second option if Sesko does fall through.

As he proved in Wednesday night’s fixture for the Villans.
Ollie Watkins sends message with goal for Aston Villa
Unai Emery’s side took on St Louis City in a pre-season fixture, with Watkins coming off the bench and bagging a goal for the Villans.
The England international scored a header for his side after a Matty Cash delivery, putting Emery’s side two goals to the good.
A clear message to Manchester United – that he should still be taken into consideration as the preferred option at Old Trafford, despite Sesko edging closer hour by hour.
Amorim loves Watkins, and so does his former teammate, and United’s new signing Mbeumo. So, if Sesko does pick the Toon, it really isn’t a bad second option.
Bryan Mbeumo on Ollie Watkins
In his first interview with Manchester United club media, Mbeumo praised the Red Devils target to Rio Ferdinand.
“Ollie is a complete striker,” Mbeumo said. “He can do a lot of things. He can drop to be available or go in behind.
“And that is really good for me as a winger because you can use his space to fit in there. Plus he can combine as well. It’s really good.”
A decision is to be made on a forward to lead Amorim’s line for next season imminently. Will it be Watkins?
