Olivier Ntcham has insisted that he has no intention of leaving Celtic anytime soon despite being linked with the Parkhead exit over the summer, in comments reported by the Evening Times.
Ntcham has been an inspired signing for the Hoops. But he has not always managed to keep the supporters on side, especially when he has discussed his future.
In comments reported by the Daily Record this summer for example, the former Manchester City man admitted that leaving Celtic was a possibility and that he was interested in a potential move to Marseille.
And Celtic fans may have been fearful of what Ntcham may say next, particularly with Tuttomercatoweb recently reporting that Roma, Valencia and Sporting are all eyeing a January move for the Frenchman.
But Ntcham appears to have alleviated those concerns. The 23-year-old has insisted that he does not plan to go anywhere anytime soon.
“I am focused on Celtic 150 percent,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times. “I am focused on working hard every day in training and on the pitch. I am not spending my time looking around.
“There was talk about my future, but I am fully concentrated on the present. You never know what happens in football tomorrow, but I want to enjoy my time today.
“It’s a very exciting time at Celtic. There are a lot of games but if we win them it will be even more exciting. We are used to winning but we are still hungry in every single game.”
When Ntcham is at his best, he is arguably as good as any player in the Scottish Premiership. So it looks to be a big boost for Neil Lennon’s men that he seems to be going nowhere.
It is also a big boost to have the situation addressed before January. Speculation can be extremely detrimental. But Ntcham appears to have ensured that there will be little to talk about regarding his future.
