The Paraguay international has made six Premier League appearances for the club so far.

He has made two assists in his last two matches, and fans are really starting to now understand the hype.

He seems to be extremely creative and has already struck up a good understand with fellow South American Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez.

Certainly Bernard, who made 138 appearances for Newcastle between 2000-05, likes what he has seen.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Frenchman said: “I’ve been very impressed with Almiron. However, he is still raw and I don’t think he has hit his full potential yet. I think he has the makings to be a fantastic player for the club. His movement is ridiculously good and his turn of pace is second to none.”

TBR’s view

Almiron has been very impressive since coming in.

The attacking midfielder is slight in stature, which many feared would count against him coming to play in England.

That has not been the case though, with Almiron having been easily able to influence games with his skill and technical ability.

Still only 25, it’s as Bernard says; Almiron is still raw and has plenty of developing still to do.

And that is a tantalising prospect if you’re a Newcastle supporter.
