Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp has picked Danny Rose’s volley against Arsenal in 2010 as “the best goal ever scored”.
The Spurs academy graduate is the latest player to take part in the club’s 18-82 Q&A, whereby 18 questions are answered from a possible 82 sent in by fans.
Most of the questions put Skipp’s way weren’t directly pertaining to football but, when it came to the “best goal ever scored”, the 19-year-old opted to keep it in-house.

“That’s a tough one,” he told the Tottenham website. “I want it to be a Spurs goal and I’ll go for Danny Rose’s volley against Arsenal in 2010. I was there that day. What a goal that was!”
Rose was making his first senior start for Tottenham, a baptism of fire against bitter rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane on 14 April 2010.
After Manuel Almunia punched the ball clear, it descended towards the then 19-year-old, and many would’ve been expecting the ball to be controlled and delivered back into the Gunners box.
Instead, Rose let rip with a cleanly-hit volley which sailed over both sets of players and into the Arsenal net, opening the scoring en route to a 2-1 win.

The victory effectively ended Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League and went a long way to helping Spurs finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League.

To describe Rose’s stunning effort against Arsenal 10 years ago as “the best goal ever” is a huge compliment towards Rose, scorer of a goal which has gone down in Tottenham folklore.
However, the full-back’s own future at Spurs is very uncertain, having been shipped out on loan to Newcastle United and widely expected to leave the club this summer, as reported by the likes of talkSPORT.
