Oliver Skipp has posted on Instagram after his loan spell at Norwich City came to an end, sending a touching message to the side he has just helped gain promotion – and plenty have responded to the Tottenham man.
Skipp, 20, has starred for Norwich during the 2020-21 campaign featuring in 45 of the Canaries’ 46 league games – only missing the final match having already gained promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt.
The nine-time England Under-21 international has been excellent for Norwich and it is clear that fans of the East Anglian club want Skipp to return – as Daniel Farke looks to keep Norwich in the Premier League this time around.
Spurs, meanwhile, might want Skipp next season having watched him shine in yellow and green. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has had numerous partners in the middle of the park, but no-one that can keep the role permanently.
What does Skipp need to do this summer? There is no doubt that he has the quality to make it at Tottenham but if he is to break into the Spurs side, he needs to continue to maximise his potential and game time is crucial.
So, if Tottenham keep Skipp – it is because they must give him the freedom to start. If anything below that, then Skipp needs to be loaned back to Norwich and gain Premier League experience. Plenty responded.
£30million-rated (Times) Max Aarons, a player reportedly eyed by Spurs (EuroSport), labelled him a “top player” while Tottenham-owned Jack Roles – on loan at Stevenage – made the bizarre comment “we want you to stay”.
