Oliver Kahn 'optimistic' Coman will sign a new contract amid Liverpool links
Liverpool were dealt a blow in their pursuit of Kingsley Coman with Oliver Kahn claiming Bayern Munich are ‘optimistic’ over a new contract.
The France international’s contract expires in two years time with the winger yet to sign an extension. However, the German champions are keen on tying him down.
Coman wants parity with the club’s top earners and is in talks over a new deal alongside Leon Goretzka.
Liverpool are keen on signing the 25-year-old, however, the Bavarians have slapped on an £86m asking price.
Speaking about the winger’s contract, Kahn remained confident the Germans could reach an agreement.
When talking about Coman, Kahn said: “We’re in talks with Goretzka and Coman. Absolute top players want to be paid accordingly, we’re not naive about that.”
“That’s perfectly fine. With us, there is a limit, which is very clearly defined. We are in very, very good talks with both players. I am optimistic. We have a great package to offer here.”
TBR View: Liverpool have enough depth amid comments from Kahn on Coman contract
Liverpool have enough depth in attack amid comments from Kahn over a new contract for Coman.
Diogo Jota arrived from Wolves last summer to add to the great depth already at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.
The Portugal international joined the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, who have been huge successes.
And furthermore, you have the likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri, who are excellent options off the bench.
Coman would be an expensive addition for Liverpool, who already have enough in the final third.
