Ukraine certainly had an exciting international break. They picked up two wins from two, both in UEFA Nations League clashes. They beat Slovakia thanks to an Andriy Yarmolenko penalty at the weekend. In the week, they beat the Czech Republic, despite going a goal down. It was certainly an impressive game for Oleksandr Zinchenko. He scored the 90th-minute winner in what could prove a crucial win.
In both games he only came on as a substitute. The experience is surely making him wonder if he made a mistake remaining at Manchester City.
Zinchenko could have joined Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer. It was reported by the Express and Star that the talented and versatile player rejected a move to Wolves in August. A £16 million fee had been agreed but he felt it was time to remain at City and fight for first-team football.

That looks an error in judgement. He is yet to feature in a matchday squad for City this season and playing for his country this week must remind him of what he should be doing.
Zinchenko could be playing every week if at Wolves and getting a taste of what he had this week with his country. Who knows? If he was laying more regular club football, perhaps he would be starting for his nation as well.
Wolves moved on and did some good business, they will not look back in anger. But Zinchenko, in hindsight, made the wrong move.
