Oldham fans react to Leeds loanee Alfie McCalmont’s latest goal

A number of Oldham Athletic fans have taken to Twitter to laud Alfie McCalmont after the Leeds United loanee scored another outstanding goal at the weekend.

McCalmont went into Saturday’s trip to Leyton Orient having scored a spectacular winner for the Latics in midweek.

The 21-year-old found the top corner with a delicious volley from the edge of the box. And he managed a goal perhaps just as impressive at Brisbane Road.

Unfortunately, the game ended in defeat for Keith Curle’s side. But McCalmont was lauded by many for the strike on the hour mark that handed the visitors a lifeline.

The Northern Irishman curled a brilliant first-time finish inside the post from just outside the area. He has now scored three in his last four. And in total, he has eight in all competitions since arriving from Elland Road.

Oldham fans seem determined to enjoy him while he is with them. There is certainly a sense that he is going to be playing at a much higher level next year.

Several lauded the goal as well as the form that he has shown recently. And some are wondering where they would be without his performances right now.
