Rangers suffered defeat at the hands of Celtic in the Old Firm derby this weekend. The 1-0 loss was, in fairness, flattering to the Glasgow side.
Steven Gerrard’s defensive set-up could have seen them scrape a draw and take it back to Ibrox. However, over 90 minutes they were completely outplayed and Rangers did not deserve anything from this game.
But there were some reasons to be positive. Take Allan McGregor for example.
The veteran Scottish stopper put in an assured performance for Rangers. Whilst he probably should have seen red for a stamp on Kristoffer Ajer, his performance was exactly what Rangers need.

He made good saves when called upon, was commanding in the face of some wicked set-play delivery from their Old Firm rivals and commanded his defence with aplomb.
His arrival from Hull City in the summer was something of a talking point. Many Rangers fans did not see the need in replacing Mark Warburton signing and long-term number one Wes Foderingham.
But it is games like today when Rangers’ current number one highlights how telling experience and temperament are between the sticks.
He fully deserves his place in goal for Rangers. As for Foderingham, he must remain the back-up and learn all he can from his current superior.
