‘Oh no’: Some Tottenham fans react to transfer rumour involving Crystal Palace

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Telegraph revealed that Crystal Palace are now leading the queue to sign Joachim Andersen.

What’s the story?

Firstly, you might be wondering why this news concerns Tottenham fans.

Well, it was The Athletic who revealed that Andersen was close to joining Spurs back in June, which left French media outlets shocked.

They were surprised that Tottenham wanted the Dane after he suffered relegation with Fulham last season.

However, that was certainly no fault of Andersen’s, who excelled in west London.

The Telegraph believe Patrick Vieira’s side have now become favourites to sign the centre-back, who made 30 Premier League starts in 2020/21.

Andersen’s form was so impressive that Arsenal were also said to be interested in him.

Better options out there for Tottenham?

It seems strange that Tottenham could be beaten to a target by Crystal Palace, with all due respect to the south Londoners.

After reading The Telegraph‘s news, we feel that Fabio Paratici has now moved onto other targets.

In our view, Spurs have given up on Andersen, and decided to focus their energy on signing Cristian Romero from Atalanta and Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna.

Both defenders – who play in Serie A – are targets for Tottenham.

In our view, that is the only explanation for Crystal Palace leapfrogging Spurs in the race to sign Andersen.
