A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the news that Jonny Hayes and Jozo Simunovic will be leaving Parkhead this summer.
Hayes had earlier confirmed his imminent departure from Celtic upon the expiry of his contract, while the Hoops will not take up a one-year option on Simunovic’s deal.
The Irishman joined Celtic from Aberdeen in 2017 and played 68 times for the Bhoys, scoring two goals and registering seven assists in a stint which also saw him battle back from a leg break.
One of his two goals in the green and white hoops was his late strike on the counter to break Rangers hearts on their own patch in Celtic’s 2-0 win at Ibrox back in September.
Simunovic, meanwhile, made 125 appearances for Celtic and scored five goals after joining from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015.
In April last year, the 25-year-old famously scored the winner against Kilmarnock after 67 minutes while wearing the number five jersey made famous by Billy McNeill in the first game after the Bhoys legend’s death.
Here is what some Celtic fans said after the club made the announcement on their imminent departures on Saturday:
All the best to them both. Jozo sticking Kenny Miller 2000ft into orbit then scoring in the 67th minute will live long in the memory. Hayes emptying Ibrox also a great moment 🙌🏻🍀

They’re great servants to the club. Also they always have there for us and for the club. I wish them both all the best for whatever comes next HH 💚🍀

Not Jozo!!! Considering we could’ve got £4 million from Torino a few years ago. Should’ve been given a new contract

Hayes good servant but won’t miss him that much. Jozo is a big loss for CB depth unless we have an adequate replacement lined up.

Surprised at Jozo.

Big Jozo offski as well, never fulfilled his potential, but certainly had his moments that endeared him to the fans.
Squad trimming, cost cutting and spending our money more wisely than ever before now key in these new times ahead.
All the very best lads HH.
