'Oh no': Liverpool fans aren't happy with what they're hearing from Klopp after first friendly
It’s fair to say that Liverpool fans aren’t exactly keen on the idea of deploying Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as a false nine this season.
Oxlade-Chamberlain up top?
Jurgen Klopp played Oxlade-Chamberlain up-front in Liverpool’s first friendly of the season against Stuttgart last night.
The England international did fairly well in the contest, as he created an assist in a 1-1 draw.
And after the game Klopp said it was an experiment which could be tested out more often.
“You could see in the first few minutes, that’s an option, definitely. We will see how that goes on,” he said to LFCTV.
However, Liverpool fans are now concerned that Klopp’s word suggest that they won’t be signing a goalscorer this summer, which could leave their options limited going into the new campaign.
Liverpool’s need for another attacker was highlighted last season.
Although Diogo Jota had a strong first campaign, Liverpool couldn’t shake their attack up as much as they might have wanted.
Both Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane fell short of their recent standards.
And if that happens again, it is tough to see Liverpool scoring the volume of goals required to win the Premier League title, without reinforcements being signed.
