'Oh my' 'Wow': Some Arsenal fans shocked by what they've heard about one of Highbury's greatest players

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira will return to the Premier League to take over at Crystal Palace.

According to the Athletic, the former club captain and Invincible will join the Eagles as their new manager. Vieira was sacked as manager of OGC Nice last December after a run of poor results for the Ligue 1 side.

The south London side have been seeking for a replacement for Roy Hodgson. The English coach left the club at the end of last season.

Vieira has had a mixed spell since stepping into management in 2016. Indeed, the former France international enjoyed an encouraging spell with MLS side New York City FC. The 45-year-old led the East Coast side to their first-ever playoff finish.

This resulted in Vieira taking the job at OGC Nice in the summer of 2018. Yet despite having the funds to spend, the former Arsenal powerhouse was unable to make much of an impact with the French club.

Indeed, Palace will be an interesting project for Vieira and the London side will become a club to keep an eye for next season. Moreover, Arsenal fans on social media were in disbelief that their former captain will be returning to the Premier League.

Heres’ what some Arsenal fans had to say about the news that Vieira will be returning to manage in the Premier League on Twitter…

Arsenal and Palace have a tame rivalry, at best, in the Premier League. However, this appointment from the south London side will make matches between the two sides an interesting sceptical for supporters.
