
Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Harvey Elliott had signed a new long-term contract at Anfield.
What’s the story?
Well, Liverpool have shown their faith in the 18-year-old by handing him a fresh deal, which will see the Reds secure his long-term future.
Liverpool’s announcement does not state how long the new contract lasts for.
However, the teenager had already signed a long-term contract when arriving from Fulham in 2019, so he should have many years to come at Anfield.
Elliott enjoyed a phenomenal 2020/21 season on loan at Blackburn.
The forward scored seven goals and provided 12 assists in 43 appearances for the Championship outfit.
In doing so, he earned a nomination for the EFL Young Player of the Season award.
The future is bright

Elliott cost Liverpool just £4.3m, a sum they were forced to pay as compensation to Fulham at a tribunal.
Now, that could turn out to be one of the biggest bargains in English football.
Despite his age, Elliott has looked totally fearless whenever he’s stepped onto the pitch, whether than be for Liverpool or for Blackburn.
Aside from the London-born whizkid, Jürgen Klopp has more excellent youngsters in Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The homegrown trio, alongside other young players such as Ibrahima Konate, could form the backbone of Liverpool’s XI for the next decade.
It’s certainly exciting to see the Reds boast such a formidable starting XI, and have young gems coming through in the background.
