‘Oh my’: Some Liverpool fans blown away by what Naby Keita did yesterday during 1-0 win

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after footage emerged of Naby Keita making opponents look silly in the 1-0 win over Mainz 05 yesterday.

What’s the story?

Well, the £52.75m man got some minutes in the tank yesterday as Liverpool defeated the German side, thanks to a late own goal from Luca Kilian.

In the 35th minute, Keita can be seen deceiving one opponent with a clever first touch, which pops the ball into space.

Then, he wriggles through a gap, before delicately sliding the ball between another Mainz 05 player’s legs.

Sadly, Keita’s mesmeric run ends there, as he’s then dragged to the ground.

It may only have been a pre-season friendly, but it’s a reminder of just how much talent the Guinea international has in his locker.

Please Liverpool, keep Naby Keita fit

The 26-year-old is such a brilliant player, who could really take Liverpool’s midfield up a gear if he managed to stay away from the treatment room.

Whenever Keita looks like he’s finding some form in a Liverpool shirt, he seems to pick up a knock which hinders his progress.

It’s such a shame. In fact, the Anfield faithful haven’t actually seen the best of him yet, in our view, despite this now being his third year on Merseyside.

A midfield trio of Keita, Thiago and Fabinho is mouthwatering, as is one also involving Jordan Henderson.

Whether Keita requires a change of fitness regime, or another type of amendment, Liverpool have to ensure he remains fit.
