‘Oh my lord’, ‘need to get’: Some Arsenal fans eager for club to sign £5,000-a-week defender

A number of Arsenal fans have urged the club to move for Max Aarons in case Hector Bellerin leaves, in wake of a report suggesting the Gunners full-back is open to new challenge.

The Telegraph claimed on Thursday that Arsenal have received a big boost this summer with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang providing verbal promises that he will sign a new deal.

However, the report also suggested that the Gunners are also looking at selling players to boost their transfer kitty, and Bellerin is one of those who could be sold.

In turn, the Spaniard is said to be open to the idea of leaving the Emirates Stadium for a new challenge, following nine years at Arsenal after joining from Barcelona.

Should Bellerin leave, Arsenal have Cedric Soares at right-back as well as the versatile Ainsley Maitland-Niles, though the latter has reportedly been earmarked for sale.

Aarons, meanwhile, has been one of Norwich’s standout players over the past two seasons, helping the Canaries to the Premier League and showing he’s suited to the top flight despite relegation.

The 20-year-old right-back, who is under contract at Carrow Road until 2024 on £5,000-per-week, according to Spotrac, is reported by The Express to have a £30million price tag.

And some Arsenal fans reckon Bellerin’s departure could – and should – allow the Gunners to swoop for Aarons:
