A number of Newcastle United fans have been commenting on Twitter regarding the report linking the Magpies to Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard.

With Newcastle on the brink of a potentially very lucrative takeover, plenty of players and coaches have been – and are being – linked with a switch to St James’ Park.

Lingard has come through the ranks at Old Trafford and has made 202 competitive senior appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals and registering 20 assists.

The report claims the 27-year-old is being earmarked with a move to raise funds in order to try and bring Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester.

Leicester, Everton and West Ham have also been linked with Lingard, who has fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

With such high-profile names as Edinson Cavani and Dries Mertens having been linked to Newcastle, Lingard’s inclusion to the reported target list hasn’t been met with much excitement by the Toon Army.
