‘Offered very little’: Conte will be tempted to drop Spurs player after ‘4/10’ today; not Kulusevski – TBR View

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered the same fate as their north London rivals in losing to Brighton this month.

Spurs went into Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff in brilliant form, hoping for a fifth consecutive win.

Meanwhile, the Seagulls had ended a poor run of form by beating Arsenal last week.

Few would’ve expected lightning to strike twice.

Tottenham looked stronger, were in amazing form and didn’t have numerous key players out like their rivals.

However, Spurs ended up delivering a drab display against an inspired opponent, culminating in a 1-0 defeat.

But though a 90th-minute goal is always a bitter pill to swallow, Tottenham can’t have too many complaints about losing.

Few Spurs players emerged from the game with credit, and several really disappointed.

“Created little”

Dejan Kulusevski was one of those who was way below par, while Sergio Reguilon also struggled.

It was a rare poor display from the January signing, who has otherwise been superb since arriving at N17.

He’s unlikely to lose his starting spot following today’s display.

However, Reguilon’s place at left wing-back is more at risk, with Ryan Sessegnon also vying for a starting berth.

Football.london rated Reguilon 4/10 and wrote: “Offered very little down the left-hand side.

“Conte might just be tempted to bring Sessegnon back into the starting line-up for the trip to Brentford.”

The Evening Standard went with 6/10, writing: “Returned on left in place of injured Matt Doherty.

“Opportunistic long throw created chance for Son and miraculously avoided a booking for cynical foul on Mwepu.”

The i also opted for 6/10, writing: “Reguilon, like Emerson, created little as Brighton contained Spurs’ attacking game.”

And TheHardTackle went with 5/10, writing: “Reguilon endured a forgettable game against Brighton, as he was confined to his half for most of the game due to Tariq Lamptey’s presence on his flank.

“But his output on the ball left a lot to be desired, as he completed just 62 per cent of his attempted passes while losing possession carelessly several times.

“He needs to do better.”

With Sessegnon having progressed under Conte, it’s likely that the Italian will view him as a long-term option at the club.

So it’ll be interesting to see what Conte decides to do with Reguilon in summer when the window opens.
