Celtic are reportedly closing in on the signing of Timothy Weah.

According to Sky Sports News, Celtic are on the verge of signing Weah on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season.

This deal could prove to be a masterstroke by Brendan Rodgers if Weah finds his feet in Scotland.

With Leigh Griffiths out for the foreseeable future due to personal reasons, Celtic have been left with just Odsonne Edouard as their only senior striker.

And it could be Edouard’s success in Glasgow that convinces Weah to complete a move.

Edouard followed the same path as Weah in moving to Celtic on loan from PSG.

The France youth international swapped the French champions for the Scottish champions at the start of the 2017/18 season, scoring 11 times in 29 games.

This sets the blueprint for Weah to make the same move and impress in the Scottish Premiership.

But the 18-year-old will be eager to go one better and prove to PSG that he can make the grade with the Ligue 1 giants.

The eight cap USA international is highly rated by club and country and has a big future in the game.

In the short-term, though, his focus will be on delivering success with Celtic.

Edouard’s ability to adapt from French football to Scottish football will encourage Weah as he makes his mind up.
