Odsonne Edouard has sent a message to Celtic flop Charly Musonda on Instagram, as the attacking midfielder continues to overcome a long-term knee injury that has blighted his career over the last 12 months.
Musonda, 22, joined Celtic in January 2018 and was supposed to be on loan at the club from Chelsea until the summer of 2019 – in what was a proposed 18-month loan spell. Now, he is one year into a two-year loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem in Holland.
However, the Belgium youth international failed to break into Brendan Rodgers’ side during his time at Celtic and managed just eight appearances for the Scottish champions. He failed to score, and laid on just one assist.
Following a long-term knee injury that saw him manage just one appearance last term, Musonda has played three times this season already and posted a compilation of his highlights on Instagram. Edouard replied, posting: “The prodigy child is back”.
TBR’s view – Would Musonda get into current Celtic side?
Probably not. Neil Lennon’s side are enormously under pressure, not only from Old Firm rivals Rangers but after being knocked out of the Champions League – and being taken to extra time by Dunfermline.
Even so, the club still boast attacking midfielders Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic, who are far better than Musonda at this current time. Out wide, James Forrest. Marian Shved and Mikey Johnston are impressing.
if Musonda can return to full fitness, maybe he will have unfinished business in Glasgow. But it is a long time before Celtic should even consider bringing him back to Parkhead.
