Odion Ighalo appears to be on the hunt for a new club. The former Watford striker left the Hornets in January 2017 for a £20 million, £190k-a-week, move to China.

He joined Changchun Yatai, the latest in a line of European-based players heading to the Far East to make big bucks.

However, his side were relegated recently and, as reported by Goal, he is now available for transfer at a similar £20 million fee.

So should Everton swoop?

Everton look to be slowly finding their best form under Marco Silva. But despite improvements all over the pitch they still seem light in one area. Whilst Richarlison has thrived up front, the rest have failed to impress. Cenk Tosun looks increasingly out of his depth, Oumar Niasse appears back to outcast status whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin still looks more like a wide option.

Everton could definitely do with signing a new striker, so is Ighalo the man?

Silva never got to work with Ighalo at Watford. But his performance as manager at Vicarage Road was appreciated by the Nigerian.

“I like the way the team is playing now they work together.

“You have to be ready to run – there are no lazy players in that team…

“He (Silva) is very good at managing the team and I don’t think they will allow him to go.”

The Super Eagles striker is undoubtedly a goalscorer. In his time at Watford, he bagged 39 goals in 99 games. Chinese football has been just as fruitful. He scored 21 times in 28 games last season, despite relegation.

Considering his age, £20 million will be considered too expensive for Everton. However, if they could get him at a lower price then Ighalo might be a striker option Everton should certainly consider.
