Martin Odegaard has labelled the togetherness amongst the Arsenal squad special, and insisted it is like nothing else he has during his career – in comments reported by BT Sport.

Odegaard has more than played his part in helping Arsenal put themselves in the driving seat for fourth in the Premier League. They have now won their last four games.

What has been so impressive is the relationship a lot of the players have been building. That came to the fore on Sunday as they beat Watford 3-2. Some of the football was outrageous, particularly amongst the attacking players, with Odegaard one of those getting in on the act.

It is clear that the squad is loving playing together right now. And Odegaard suggested that that may be the big strength at Arsenal right now. In fact, he claimed it is on another level to anything he has experienced before.

“The togetherness is something special here, I’ve never seen something like this in my football career and there’s a lot of competition but still people just want the best for the team,” he said, as reported by BT Sport.

“We always want the team to win and the team spirit is really good and I think the connection we have off the pitch as well helps us on the pitch.

“It is definitely something special going on here and I feel like everyone really wants to get the club back up to the top, so that’s the feeling behind it.”

Odegaard comments highlight how Arsenal are building something much bigger than this season

Arsenal are in a fantastic position this season. And securing a Champions League return would be a huge achievement. That is particularly the case when you consider some of the previous moments in Mikel Arteta’s tenure.

Certainly, the fact that they are in contention highlights the progress they have made. And with young players such as Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli making up a large part of the squad, there is a real opportunity for Arsenal to achieve something remarkable in the coming years.

If it does not happen this year, it will in the future. They must keep those key players and make smart signings in the coming windows.

Games against most of their top-four rivals lie ahead before the end of the season. Secure positive results in each of those games and Arsenal may well be rewarded with a return to the Champions League next year.
