Nuno Tavares continues to shine out on loan, with the Arsenal loanee receiving a 9/10 rating for his latest display and Get French Football News labelling the left-back the best player on the pitch.
Obviously, things are going pretty good for the Gunners right now. Mikel Arteta’s men are top of the Premier League table after four wins out of four.

And their decision to loan the Portuguese out in the summer has been vindicated in some style. Tavares scored in both of his opening two Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille.
He failed to find the back of the net against Nantes last weekend. But his drought in front of goal lasted all of one game as he scored Marseille’s second in a 3-0 win over Nice.

Remarkably, the other two goals in the win were scored by a certain Alexis Sanchez.
Obviously, Tavares’ goalscoring purple patch is not going to last forever. And there will be other aspects of his game Arteta and his staff are monitoring.
But it seems that he is ticking every box at Stade Velodrome right now. Get French Football News raved about Tavares following his performance on Sunday…
“The best player on the pitch. He wasn’t tested defensively, but his attacking output made the difference,” Get French Football News reported.
“Like Clauss, he gave width to Marseile’s attack and his goal consolidates what has been an incredibly bright start for the Arsenal loanee. He could, and maybe should, have scored more, but he can once again be very happy with his contribution.”
Nuno Tavares the best player on the pitch
Clearly, there is a very long way to go this season. And Tavares is potentially going to have periods when he does struggle a little more. But the early signs are so promising.
Of course, Arsenal loaned William Saliba to the same club last season. And that spell seemingly helped the centre-back take that next step in his career.
Tavares showed encouraging signs in his first year in North London. But a loan move looked to be perfect for him this summer.
However, it is hard to imagine that Arsenal would have quite foreseen just how well the youngster would start.
