Nuno's relationship with Tottenham player hasn't been very positive so far, they've not spoken much - journalist
Charlie Eccleshare has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno and Tanguy Ndombele’s relationship has not got off to the most positive start, on the View from the Lane podcast.
A poor beginning
Nuno has not picked Ndombele at all yet, with the French midfielder seemingly eager to leave Tottenham in the summer.
Ndombele never got his move though, which means that he is now stuck in limbo at Spurs.
There are fears that he could be completely frozen out, as Ndombele isn’t the sort of player to cause a confrontation with the manager.
And it is claimed that the pair have not spoken a great deal since Nuno actually arrived at the club.
“Well it’s not been especially positive so far because Ndombele has wanted to leave the club,” the Athletic journalist said.
“For a new manager coming in you want players who are completely committed to the project.
“I don’t think it’s been positive. Nuno is distant from the players outside of training. Training is where he comes alive and communicates with them.
“He’s not someone who appreciates the knocking on the manager’s door and asking why he’s playing and Ndombele isn’t the kind of guy to do that anyway.
“He’s reserved and shy, he doesn’t like confrontation and didn’t like it with Mourinho or Nuno.
“So these two are not going to have spoken a huge amount to one and other.
“It will come down to how much Ndombele wants to try and prove himself, which from his point of view he very much does.”
Ndombele certainly has the ability with the ball at his feet to break into Tottenham’s team.
However, his off the ball work and desire have been questioned by multiple managers now.
Nuno may need to utilise Ndombele sooner rather than later though.
With Giovani Lo Celso and Oliver Skipp both looking likely to be unavailable this weekend, Spurs’ midfield options don’t look plentiful.
And while Harry Winks looks most likely to start against Crystal Palace, Ndombele may at least feature on the bench.
