One of the key players in Wolves’ promotion-winning season from last term was Diogo Jota. The Portuguese international scored 18 goals in 46 games for the club, also providing six assists. Initially signed on loan from Atletico Madrid, January saw Wolves make the deal permanent. As reported by MARCA, Wolves paid €14 (£12.3) million to secure his permanent arrival.

Wolves have had an excellent start to the Premier League season so far. That being said, they put in their worst performance of the season at the weekend. Wolves rarely threatened Watford in a 2-0 loss to the Hornets.

Jota was certainly culpable. He had a very poor game for Nuno’s men and, in honesty, has been on of the club’s sub-par performers this season.

After his free-scoring form of last term, Wolves fans expected similar in the top-flight. However, the 21-year-old has failed to score a single goal in 10 games this season. He has not even registered an assist and Wolves fans are rightly becoming frustrated.

Jota could perhaps use a spell out of the starting XI. He has started ever Wolves game this season but with the likes of Adama Traore and Ivan Cavaleiro waiting in the wings, Wolves have options to give Jota a jolt.

It certainly has to be an option Nuno is considering.
