Nuno Espirito Santo has labelled Son Heung-min an ‘amazing talent’ after Spurs beat Manchester City on Sunday, but went on to make an interesting claim about his performance in the victory – in comments reported by Football London.

Nuno oversaw a superb win in his first competitive game in charge. Tottenham were outstanding defensively in North London.

And they got the winner during the second-half. It was Son who found the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Some may have questioned how Spurs would cope without Harry Kane amid speculation over his future. But the South Korean stepped up and seized the role of Tottenham’s talisman.

Nuno lauded Son. But he added that he believes that the 29-year-old will play even better in future.

“I think he did well. Sonny and the talent he has is amazing. I truly believe that he is versatile enough to play and develop the tasks in all the positions at the front. He’s dynamic, has speed and he knows the game,” he said, as reported by Football London.

“Like I said before, Sonny is in the moment where he knows and he can find the gaps, the spaces and he’s a killer, a killer.

“He did ok but I still believe that even in the first half he had actions that he will do better for sure in the future.”

Son Heung-min takes on key role as Spurs show glimpse of potential new era in Manchester City win

It should probably come as no surprise that Spurs were impressive without Kane.

Of course, Tottenham are rarely going to say no to having the striker available. But there have been times when they have really stepped up when he has been out with injury.

And Son inspired the side in his absence on Sunday.

Amid all of the talk over Kane’s future, Tottenham showed what they could be even if they lose their main man this summer.

And Son looks set to be the player who inspires them should a new era be about to start in the capital.
