After a tough start to the season and a tricky evening in Europe last Thursday, Celtic needed to reassert their status within Scottish football in the Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts on Sunday.
Following a tight first half, they did exactly that; racing away from the league leaders with a triple-whammy during the second period to romp to a 3-0 victory.
It’s the kind of afternoon that can mean more than just one win; it affirmed the strength of the squad Brendan Rodgers has available to him and struck a psychological blow on a Hearts side looking to mount a serious challenge for silverware this season.
That second half display was so commanding that is has got Olivier Ntcham very excited about how good Celtic can be when they’re at their very best.
He said: “Everyone is close to us but it’s always good to show our quality and determination. When we are at our best, though, I don’t think there is anyone here who can beat us.
“It was important for us to show that we could win without Scott Brown but he is with us – he is a major player for us. I think the best team won on Sunday.”
