Now we’ll see how this Wolves side deals with a setback – it’s been plain sailing so far

Nuno Santo’s Wolves reign has surely gone even better than he or the club might have expected so far.

A season-long bedding in period for both him and the influx of foreign talent would have been acceptable but Santo watched on as the enthralling brand of football he introduced at Molineux pushed the Old Gold to the top of the Championship for the majority of last season.

Many tipped Wolves for a top ten finish this time around and their performances in the early part of the season indicated that was very much a possibility as well.

But now Santo’s men are on a five game winless run and the Portuguese faces the first real adversity he has encountered in his time in English football and the question is; how will Wolves deal with it?

Speaking after Sunday’s abject 2-0 loss against Huddersfield, Santo acknowledged that his side must now show their ‘character’ to end the run that has seen them take just one point from their last available fifteen.

Wolves appear a tight-knit group and they clearly have talent so Santo will expect his side to recover quickly but Friday’s trip to Cardiff will be another tough engagement; there was needle between the Portuguese and Neil Warnock at the end of last season’s promotion six-pointer.

It’s time for Wolves to show a different side, or this run could drag on a little while longer.
