Arsenal fans have welcomed news that Hale End goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri has penned his first professional contract with the Gunners.

The 18-year-old joined the Arsenal academy aged eight and has progressed through the ranks.

Ejeheri made it into the matchday squad three times for the Gunners’ Under-23s side last season.

He also made 13 appearances for Arsenal’s Under-18s in 2020-21.

“It’s a very, very special day for me,” Ejeheri told the Arsenal website.

“My mum and my dad, they’ve helped me from my whole career, taking me to training, even when it was very, very hard for them, so it’s a good moment for me and them.

“I’m really excited to keep this journey going.”

With Arthur Okonkwo now in Arsenal’s first-team squad, Ejeheri will compete with the likes of Karl Hein, James Hillson and Hubert Graczyk for playing time in the U23s.
