Leeds United currently sit top of the Championship table with 14 league games left to play, but there is a fierce race ongoing for the automatic promotion spots.

There are just three points separating the top three teams and the Whites may need a colossal points return to secure a return to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team have done brilliantly to be in the position they are at this stage of the season, with injuries to key players being a large factor of the campaign for them.

But they now have most senior faces back in contention and it’s time that they step up to the plate.

Bamford, who arrived in a summer deal worth up to £10million (BBC), has made just 10 senior appearances all season due to two separate injury problems.

The 25-year-old has scored three goals in that time to show a glimpse into his game, but he needs to become a talisman in the promotion bid.

He’s now been involved in the last three consecutive league fixtures and has got the nod at centre-forward over Kemar Roofe, who has dropped deeper into a playmaker role.

Leeds splashed the cash to bring Bamford to Elland Road and the left-footed striker now needs to return that trust by firing goals in the promotion bid.

Bamford has shown in the past he’s capable of being a goal machine at Championship level and Bielsa needs him to become that once again.
