Nottingham Forest transfer news: Fabrizio Romano shares Chris Wood update
Nottingham Forest are closing in on the initial loan signing of Newcastle United forward Chris Wood.
On Thursday evening, Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to declare “here we go confirmed” on the deal.
Wood will join the City Ground side on a loan deal which includes an obligation to buy clause, wrote Romano.
The Newcastle striker was set to undergo medical tests and sign the contract “in the next hours”, he added.
Forest have beaten a number of Premier League clubs to the signing of Wood, according to 90Min.
Leeds had apparently enquired about the New Zealand international, who played at Elland Road from 2015 to 2017.
Everton, Southampton and Bournemouth are also said to have been keeping tabs on him.
Sky Sports News have reported that Forest will pay Newcastle £15million for Wood as per their obligation to buy.

Forest boss Steve Cooper has been looking for attacking reinforcements in wake of Taimo Awoniyi’s injury.
Meanwhile, Wood has slipped down the pecking order at Newcastle, behind Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak.
The 31-year-old has started just four Premier League games this term.
Wood is just what Forest need, and this is a deal that works out for all parties.
He is a talented and experienced marksman, proven in the Premier League, with 59 goals from 189 top-flight outings.
Wood has also won 70 caps for his nation, registering 33 goals.
Now he’ll get the chance to play regular football again and try to write his name in Forest history.
Wood will become Forest’s third signing of the January transfer window.
The Reds have already signed Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa from Palmeiras this month.
Forest are apparently also hoping to add a central defender to their ranks before the deadline.
