Nottingham Forest sent out a message to the rest of the Championship by winning at Middlesbrough during the last round of matches. The 2-0 victory came on the back of a disappointing home draw with Millwall and delighted the club’s supporters.

The Reds’ squad is currently boasting a healthy quota of players and it remains to be seen what team boss Aitor Karanka will pick for this weekend’s visit of Norwich City.

One man who could hand the Forest manager a injury boost is Algerian forward Hillal Soudani.

The Algerian has returned to training since the Reds’ win at the Riverside Stadium and he looks set to be pushing for a place in the squad this weekend.

The 30-year-old had made a good start to life at the City Ground prior to sustaining his injury. He netted important goals in games against Reading and Wigan, demonstrating abilities that could take the division by storm.

Soudani now has the challenge of trying to force his way into Karanka’s team on a more frequent basis. Before suffering his knee injury he had managed just one start and given his confident persona he will definitely crave more.

Signing as a relative unknown quantity from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer, very few Forest fans knew what to expect. Early signs looks promising, however, with the fiery attacker showing a clear desire to do well for his new team.

At present Lewis Grabban and Daryl Murphy are vying for the chance to start in attack for the Reds and Soudani’s inclusion back in the matchday squad will give Forest a much-needed injection of firepower from the bench.
