Nottingham Forest have now made an offer to sign one of Portugal’s top talents – a player West Ham are also expected to bid for this summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have already signed Elliot Anderson, Nikola Milenkovic, Carlos Miguel, Eric da Silva Moreira and Marko Stamenic as they aim to avoid another relegation battle.

Nottingham Forest make Jota Silva offer

A story from O Jogo in Portugal now claims that Nottingham Forest have made an offer to sign Jota Silva.

The Vitória de Guimarães No.11 also has proposals from Panathinaikos and Krasnodar.

It comes after another Portuguese news outlet in Record revealed that West Ham are going to bid for Silva after hearing that his price tag had dropped from €20m (£16.8m) to €10m (£8.4m) – as Vitória de Guimarães need to raise funds.

O Jogo believe the Portugal international will decide on his next club within the next few days, meaning West Ham do not have much time to rival Nottingham Forest in this particular transfer battle.

Silva impressed in the 2023/24 campaign with 15 goals and seven assists in 42 appearances for Vitória de Guimarães.

West Ham should make a bid

It would be a huge surprise if West Ham do not join Nottingham Forest in making a bid for Silva.

The man from Gondomar is just 24 years of age, played in several different positions across the attack last season – proving his versatility – while he is also available for a bargain £8.4m fee.

It would make sense for West Ham not to sign Silva if Julen Lopetegui already had plenty of goalscorers in his attack, but aside from Jarrod Bowen – who netted 20 in all competitions last term – there are few of those at the London Stadium.

For example, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings scored just eight goals combined last season.

West Ham are looking to solve this issue with a move for Aston Villa No.24 Jhon Duran – although it feels like a no brainer to sign Silva as well, given his price tag and age.
