Nottingham Forest have joined Tottenham in race to sign £42m striker who plays just like Erling Haaland

Nottingham Forest are now set to rival Tottenham Hotspur for a prolific striker on the continent.

Tottenham have been in the market for a striker this window having never really replaced Harry Kane last year.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have evidently lacked a focal point and goalscorer, so club chiefs have been searching the market far and wide for a suitable option.

That said, one of the rumoured targets is now attracting interest from Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest and Tottenham interested in Santiago Gimenez

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez has been well-documented this summer.

The Mexico international is certainly on their radar following his 26-goal haul last year, though, they now face competition from Nottingham Forest.

According to Dutch outlet 1908, the East Midlanders are set to make an approach for Gimenez as they look to bring in a top-level number nine.

Spurs’ interest seems to have gone cold as they focus on a deal to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, so perhaps Forest could steal a march on his signature.

Santiago Gimenez statistics

Gimenez, who’s been likened to Erling Haaland per talent scout Jacek Kulig, only made the switch to European football two summers ago but he’s already established himself as one of the most prolific strikers on the continent.

His 26-goal tally last term followed 28 goals the previous season, so evidently he’s a man who knows where the back of the net is.

If Forest do manage to land his £42m signature, it’d be regarded as a real coup.
