Nottingham Forest beat their bitterest rivals Derby County last night at the City Ground to go within one point of Frank Lampard’s side.
Martin O’Neill’s team grabbed the bragging rights but also gave their play-off bid a shot in the arm with a 1-0 victory secured by an early Yohan Benalouane strike.
As expected, it was a tight, feisty encounter but Forest deservedly won out with a spirited performance full of passion and nobody epitomised that more than academy graduate Ryan Yates.
He continued his rapid rise with another impressive display and while tempers flared somewhat at the end of the game, he managed to avoid a suspension.
Unsurprisingly, the Forest fans loved it. There’s not much better than seeing one of their own show the same passion they have against their local rivals and playing a vital part in a massive win.
Yates is already a fan favourite – somebody that the supporters want to see in the first-team setup for years to come – and we’ve put together some of the best reaction as they once more showered the midfielder with praise…
