Nottingham Forest fans discuss reported target Jacob Murphy of Newcastle United

Nottingham Forest are reportedly one of several Championship teams eyeing a move for Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy during the summer transfer window – and some of their club’s supporters on Twitter have claimed they would like to see him at the City Ground next season.

Murphy joined Newcastle back in 2017 from Norwich City for £12million (Sky Sports), but has struggled for form at St James’ Park and already spent two spells out on loan, most notably scoring nine goals last season at Sheffield Wednesday.

TEAMtalk now reports that Magpies boss Steve Bruce will allow the 25-year-old to leave on another loan deal to free up room in his squad for signings.

It is understood that Forest have shown an interest in the English attacker, but there has also been contact from Championship rivals Derby County, Stoke City and Middlesbrough.

A selection of Forest supporters on social media are convinced that Murphy could be someone who helps them moving forward, as they look to push for promotion from the Championship after narrowly missing out on the play-offs last season.

The right-winger is a speedster that has shown he can be a major attacking threat at Championship level and is in demand after an eye-catching campaign with Sheffield Wednesday.

It looks unlikely he will be able to force his way into the Newcastle plans ahead of Miguel Almiron or Allan Saint-Maximin, so allowing him to depart makes sense.
